Q: Give us some insight into your daily work as a courier pharmacist?

A: The courier pharmacy is just like any other pharmacy. We engage with our patients to assess their needs. We have a phenomenal team who work together efficiently to process the orders, ensure that all medical aid queries are resolved, and parcels are dispatched timeously. Q: How does the process work for patients/customers?

A: Patients can register on our script upload link on the Medirite website or download the PDF form and email the completed form to the courier pharmacy (follow steps on the website). To ensure that all our patients are looked after, they can also send prescriptions electronically via email. Our script upload link is easily accessible, user-friendly and allows patients to upload their prescriptions, add their relevant details, as well as any additional items or special delivery notes. Once verified, we prepare the medication according to the order and dispatch the medication for delivery. We use a courier service to facilitate our delivery. So, it’s ideally suited for people who receive their medication monthly but are unable to collect it from a pharmacy. It’s also perfect for you if you live in an outlying area.

 

Q: What’s the most fulfilling part of your day?

A: My passion is building relationships with patients. The best part of my day is when one of my patients confirms that their treatment is working and that we are playing a role in improving their health and medical condition. There are people who do not have easy access to a pharmacy and being able to assist them brings me great joy. Knowing that I've played a part in improving a patient’s health and wellbeing brings immense satisfaction.

 

Q: How did you get into Pharmacy as a career?

A: I grew up in a pharmacy. My mother owned a pharmacy in a medical facility. My sisters and I grew up in the halls and offices of the pharmacy and medical facility. We had our own pharmacy equipment and frequently dispensed and counted medication for our patients (in the form of sweeties). My mother was a very caring pharmacist who knew everyone by name and had a very special bond with her patients. She showed a special care for customers and that has always been my inspiration. I grew up with a passion for healthcare and helping others. Being a pharmacist is a special combination of healthcare, patient care and interaction. I am now following in the footsteps of my greatest mentor.

 

Q: If someone was considering this path, what would be your advice?

A: A career as a pharmacist has the potential of improving several patients’ lives. If you are passionate about patient care and healthcare this would be the perfect opportunity for you. Strong communication skills, a genuine care for people’s wellbeing and dedication to medical condition improvements are vital aspects of a career as a pharmacist.

 

Q: What should we all know about medication safety and adherence?

A: It’s important to adhere to the dosages and directions of your prescribed medication. It's essential to take medications as prescribed, understand potential side-effects and communicate openly with healthcare providers about any concerns or changes in medication or a medical condition.
